Today Kettering is a commuter town, which uses its great rail connections with London St. Pancras and the Eurostar service to its advantage. Many families avoid the high cost of living and the overcrowding in the capital city by choosing to live in the much more relaxed surroundings of Kettering, and commuting the relatively short distance to London daily. In fact the town of Kettering has in recent years, been the largest growth area outside London.

Situated near the M1, it is perfectly placed for industry and habitation, and has seen many Industry giants such as Morrisons, Weetabix, Pegasus Software and Aquascutum set up manufacturing and distribution departments in the local area.

As with so many other towns in England, Kettering can trace its origins back to the Roman occupation of Britain: The Romans established potteries and kilns in the area using local raw materials. Northamptonshire is often described to visitors as the county of squires and spires, as it is remarkably well furnished with stunning country houses and stately homes, as well as many great historical churches and religious monuments including the Rushton Triangular Lodge.

Fun is the order of the day at Wicksteed Park, the UK's oldest theme park which resides in Kettering. Wicksteed Park, established in 1921 by Charles Wicksteed, remains a large local attraction with eight main rides, including two roller coasters and six water rides. It is open all year round to the delight of visitors, and also has the largest free children's playground in Europe. Entry to the park is free, with visitors paying for the rides they wish to enjoy.

There is a lot to do in the Kettering area, whether you are visiting on business or for pleasure. Take time to appreciate the wonderful surrounding countryside in Northamptonshire and the many grand historic houses.
